BRIAN PICKARD
ABOUT ME

Brian Pickard began his writing career at a young age. By the time Brian was a junior in high school he was writing a weekly news article for THE KATHADIN TIMES, a small publication covering northern Maine. His journalistic work earned him an academic award for OUTSTANDING JOURNALISM prior to graduation and laid the groundwork for his continued success as a writer.
In addition to being an active writer, Brian has always had a love for performing arts. Brian has been involved with more than a dozen community theater projects and a handful on independent film projects. His experiences working on set with Vermont filmmaker Neil Benedict on the feature UNNATURAL ACTS, UNSPEAKABLE PRACTICES and the short film FRAMING ADRIENNE pushed him to try his hand at screenwriting.
After taking some time to study the craft and a couple of marginal attempts at a screenplay, Brian wrote the feature length screenplay SLAYERS, a horror/comedy about a group of game fanatics forced to battle a horde of vampires. With a completed script in hand, Brian sent the script around New England with the goal of producing the film on his own. While the script receive very positive remarks from the filmmaking community, financing was never secured and the film was put on the shelf.
Brian continued to push his screenplay to anyone who would listen and through conversations at New England Industry events Brian was brought in to help write a small web project titled PROPER MANORS. The strength of the teleplays caught the attention of some major players in the field of daytime drama but due to budgetary constraints, the project went the micro-production route and became a webseries produced by Pietro D’Allessio.
The strength of Slayers and the work on Proper Manors lead to other opportunities as well. Brian became the head writer on the short lived MyTV entertainment program THE LESLIE TAYLOR SHOW, was commissioned by Breaking Waves Entertainment to write the horror film WATCH ISLAND as a potential franchise for the company, and Abraham Productions acquired Brian’s spec script THE PROPOSITION for their start-up production company.
Brian continues to churn out quality scripts in a variety of genres and formats. While he has a passion for dark material (horror films and crime thrillers) Brian has proven his versatility by delivering the goods with sketch comedy and daytime drama.
Brian currently resides in northern Vermont with his wife Meredith and three beautiful children.
